According to a report from Reuters, Elon Musk, the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), went to the Pentagon on Friday morning, March 21st, to attend a meeting that lasted over an hour. Prior to the meeting, he posted on X, urging to sue any Pentagon officials spreading false information about him.
Previously, The New York Times reported that Musk had received briefings on the U.S. secret warfare plans against China. Musk, along with Trump and others, have denied The New York Times’ report.
Earlier on Friday, before arriving at the Pentagon, Musk criticized The New York Times’ report as “pure propaganda.” He wrote on X, “I look forward to those Pentagon officials who maliciously leak false information to The New York Times being prosecuted, they will be found.”
Trump also denied The New York Times’ report. On Thursday, Trump posted on “Truth Social” about the meeting, stating that the meeting “didn’t even mention or discuss China.”
Before 9 a.m. on Friday, Musk arrived at the Pentagon by car to start the visit. It was his first meeting at the Pentagon with U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. The meeting lasted about 80 minutes. As Musk left, someone saw him joking with Hegseth, showing that the meeting went smoothly.
Musk’s companies, Starlink and SpaceX, have multiple contracts with the Pentagon. Prior to the meeting, Hegseth posted on X that his meeting with Musk would focus on “innovation, efficiency, and smarter production.”
Later on Friday morning, during a speech in the Oval Office of the White House, President Trump and Hegseth confirmed that Musk was not shown any plans regarding a potential war with China during the earlier visit to the Pentagon. Hegseth stated, “There is no war plan, no China war plan, and no secret plan.”
He added that reports claiming Musk would be shown such a plan were meant to “sabotage the relationship between the Pentagon and him.”
