Recently, the story of Chinese actor Wang Xing has brought attention to a small town called Myawaddy, located near the Thailand border, making it the most talked-about place in the Chinese community. Not only does this town host some important projects related to China’s Belt and Road Initiative, but it is also claimed to be a milestone of cooperation among China, Myanmar, and Thailand. However, more importantly, this town is actually a hellhole specialized in trafficking and exploiting Chinese people.
Similar places are said to exist in hundreds within the border areas of Myanmar close to China and Thailand. Over 70,000 Chinese people are reported to be abducted and kidnapped each year. Behind these self-managed, closed-off compounds lies a dark network involving the CCP’s united front work, intelligence activities, and its international grand strategy. The darkness within has left countless Chinese people terrified.
Independent TV producer Li Jun revealed in a program on NTD’s “Essence Forum” that when Wang Xing was rescued in Thailand, he mentioned being locked up with over 50 other Chinese individuals. He wasn’t exactly rescued but rather released after paying a ransom of two million yuan, while the other 50 individuals remained unnoticed. Subsequently, more rescue requests surfaced online, including one for a model named Yang Zeqi who was reportedly deceived by her best friend into going to Myanmar. Additionally, two girls who went on a trip to Thailand were also abducted to the KK compound; a businessman mentioned being tricked into the KK compound while inspecting investment projects in Thailand, only escaping after enduring numerous hardships; and a retired armed police officer recounted how he was tricked into a telecommunication scam compound.
Li Jun stated that in recent years, there have been numerous cases of Chinese individuals going missing after traveling to Thailand and Myanmar. It is said that the telecommunications scam compounds in Myanmar manage to lure nearly 60,000 to 70,000 mainland Chinese across using various methods, and once there, these individuals find it nearly impossible to leave, with only a few managing to escape. The scam groups not only aim to drain you of all financial resources but also compel you to deceive others, such as friends and fellow villagers. If they feel that you are of no use, it is said that the ultimate fate is being sent to a maritime medical ship where organs are harvested, a terrifying prospect.
Following the emergence of this information, many Chinese people canceled their trips to Thailand, prompting a sense of urgency within Thailand. The media reported that these telecommunications scam compounds are managed by Chinese individuals, harming fellow Chinese, and have no connection to Thailand. The Thai Prime Minister even stated that as long as the CCP is willing, Thailand can immediately deploy military forces to rescue Chinese individuals within the compounds. This is quite intriguing – if Thailand is cracking down on the fraudulent compounds, why does it need the CCP’s consent? In 2023, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution on the Myanmar issue, urging the fraudulent groups in northern Myanmar and the local government to release the detained individuals. However, at that time, China and Russia abstained from voting.
Li Jun mentioned that Myawaddy is located on the border between eastern Myanmar and Thailand, separated only by a river, and is essentially an industrial zone for telecommunications scams. It isn’t just one KK telecommunications scam compound there; in fact, there are around thirty similar compounds in the vicinity. There is also a more well-known one called Asia-Pacific New Town which, similar to the KK compound, has strong ties to the CCP. The person in charge of Asia-Pacific New Town is named She Zhijiang and was once the executive vice president of the CCP Overseas Chinese Business Association; these associations are under the control of the United Front Work Department. Additionally, this compound is praised as a demonstration project of the Belt and Road Initiative, with CCTV even covering its development, constructed by state-owned enterprises, just like the KK compound. Later, She Zhijiang turned against the CCP, claiming to be from the State Security Department.
According to Chinese media reports, the KK compound was officially initiated in 2018, and by June 2019, Ning Jizhe, Vice Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission of China, stated at the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor Cooperation Forum that the construction of the KK compound would bring more opportunities and space for cooperation between China and Myanmar. By November 2020, the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar even organized a promotional event for the KK compound, introducing the investment environment and development prospects, it’s unimaginable how the Chinese ambassador was promoting the KK compound. The investment partners of this KK compound include China North Industries Group, China Metallurgical Group, Xi’an Construction Engineering Group, and China Central Properties Group; electricity is provided by the State Grid Corporation of China, and telecommunication services are provided by China Telecom, China Mobile, and China Unicom; logistic services, just like CCP government agencies, are designated by China Post, all aligning with CCP’s standards – is it a fraud compound or an institution of the CCP?
Li Jun mentioned that these terrifying telecommunications scam compounds are definitely established by the CCP. A long-term resident of Myanmar of Chinese descent interviewed by American media mentioned that local governments, police, and even the military dare not interfere with these telecommunications scam compounds since everyone knows they are under the control of the CCP, where lawlessness prevails.
Veteran Chinese media figure Zhao Lanjian stated in “Essence Forum” that he had extensive interactions with the CCP’s Ministry of Commerce and the China Center for International Economic Exchanges in the early days. In 2017, during a conference at the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, he learned about their macro planning for Myanmar, which was related to China’s Belt and Road investment projects. After arriving in Myanmar, they worked on adapting to the local conditions and driving local development, meaning the logistics, information flow, economic flow, and economic development framework of Myanmar were all designed by the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, funded by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Commerce. The Chinese government poured a significant amount of money into Myanmar, and the companies taking over were wealthy individuals with political backgrounds, mega-corporations with the word ‘China’ in their name.
State institutions or economic design centers, although appearing as government entities, actually have direct connections with the United Front Work Department and even the State Security Department. With so many CCP government departments directly involved – from the Ministry of Commerce, the NDRC, to the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, and including the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese – alongside all official media singing praises for them. In 2018 and 2019, CCTV, People’s Daily, China Overseas Chinese Network, and China News Network conducted extensive propaganda and reports on the situation in Myawaddy, causing many innocent people who believed in the CCP’s brand and the People’s Daily to change their destinies by traveling there.
Zhao Lanjian pointed out that it is precisely due to the top-level CCP design and the division of benefits among the elite groups that Myanmar, Thailand, and China find themselves in this dire situation, unable to extricate themselves, only worsening as time passes. Under the indoctrination spread by CCP official propaganda last year, many believed that the situation had concluded. They assumed that media advocacy, support, and appeals had prompted a positive development, only to realize that the situation has become even more severe today. The fundamental reason lies in the fact that the CCP’s own surgical tools cannot operate on themselves, unable to cut off their own cancerous growth – this is an inevitable result of the CCP system, one that cannot be altered.
It is imperative to remind the audience not to be misled by individuals like Wang Zhian. Wang Zhian claimed on the program that the KK compound had its water, electricity, gas, and signal supplied by Thailand, misleading all viewers, attempting to shift responsibility to Thailand. However, it must be noted that there are many KK compounds, with most of the layout, information, and energy supply coming from China.
Li Jun stated in “Essence Forum” that information circulating online reveals that the real mastermind behind all these telecommunications scam compounds is Geng Zhiyuan. Geng Zhiyuan is affiliated with the State Security, serving as the chairman of the China-Myanmar Friendship Association. The so-called chairman of the Friendship Association is the highest-ranking United Front official dispatched by the CCP, with a direct association to the United Front Work Department.
Geng Zhiyuan is the son of former CCP Vice Premier Geng Biao, with Xi Jinping, the current CCP leader, once serving as Geng Biao’s secretary. Geng Zhiyuan can be considered a key figure in the recent political changes and military unrest in Myanmar.
Li Jun mentioned that Geng Zhiyuan took over the position of chairman of the China-Myanmar Friendship Association from Chu Jialu in 2015, designated by Xi Jinping. It was spread online that Xi Jinping instructed Geng Zhiyuan to specialize in United Front work in Myanmar. His main tasks were coordinating with the anti-government forces, liaising with various criminal organizations in Myanmar, and bribing officials at all levels of the government and influential figures in politics and the economy.
Senior media figure Guo Jun stated in “Essence Forum” that after gaining independence, Myanmar rejected joining the US-backed ASEAN and chose to cooperate with the CCP. The early ASEAN was primarily a military cooperation organization aimed at preventing communist infiltration. Other early ASEAN members, including Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia, could maintain their national independence and government control to a large extent, but Myanmar’s failure to join ASEAN has left it practically a failed state. Therefore, unless the CCP collapses, Myanmar’s situation is unlikely to improve, and even neighboring Thailand and Laos have seen an increasing CCP influence, making them quite dangerous.
Guo Jun remarked that Myanmar is a country plagued with troubles, where the government only has control over half of the country, with the other half mainly controlled by the CCP. The focus on the controversial Myawaddy town actually lies in southern Myanmar’s Karen State. The commonly referred to northern Myanmar actually pertains to Kachin State and Shan State, but in reality, the Kachin State and Kayin State in southern Myanmar, which encompasses parts of the Golden Triangle region, used to be under the control of the Myanmar Communist Party.
In the 1960s, when the CCP-supported Myanmar Communist Party’s guerrilla forces reached their peak, they occupied approximately 10,000 square kilometers of land with over 30,000 troops. At that time, many grassroots officers of the Myanmar Communist Party were trained by the CCP, with training facilities held in the Chengdu Military Region, operating in Guiyang and Chengdu. When Deng Xiaoping reached an agreement with the US and diplomatic relations were established, CCP’s material support for the Myanmar Communist Party effectively ceased around 1979, and at that time, the Myanmar Communist Party began cultivating opium, setting up over 80 heroin factories.
By 1989, significant chaos erupted within the Myanmar Communist Party, leading the internal guerrillas to become warlords, and the central leaders of the party, including General Secretary De Qingbadeng, were sent to China, with De Qingbadeng residing in Xi’an. Currently, areas like Mong La, Shan State, and territories in the Kachin State controlled by warlords were once backed by the CCP-supported Myanmar Communist Party forces. These forces included a large number of Chinese individuals, including urban youth sent to the countryside during the Up to the Mountains and Down to the Countryside Movement, as well as residents from various regions inside China.
Therefore, the current situation in Myanmar is a result of the CCP’s support for Southeast Asian communist parties to subvert governments. The three countries where CCP support was most pronounced are Vietnam, Indonesia, and Myanmar. While armed uprisings of the Indonesian Communist Party and the Communist Party of Malaysia completely failed, Vietnam succeeded, and Myanmar turned into what it is today.
Senior editor and lead writer Shi Shan in “Essence Forum” mentioned that initially, these communist parties carried some idealistic veneer, aiming to establish communism; however, the current armed groups supported by the CCP have transformed into purely evil forces.
Guo Jun added in “Essence Forum” that these communist parties did have a slight ideological aspect in the early days, but that generation has largely disappeared. The individuals inheriting local political power in Myanmar today are entirely engrossed in power plays and monetary gains, with the CCP still serving as their backstage supporter. After the 1990s, Myanmar witnessed a brief relaxation, but currently, the CCP’s primary concern is dominating Myanmar rather than promoting communism. The CCP itself has transitioned into bureaucratic capitalism, valuing money and influence over any communist ideals. The warlord entities supported by the CCP in Myanmar now primarily focus on profit-making ventures, emphasizing the need to collaborate with the CCP to earn money.
Guo Jun mentioned that earlier, the Myanmar Communist Party relied on drugs and later turned to gambling activities – characterized as the ‘Yellow, Gambling, and Drug’ sins. Currently, the CCP’s influence is expanding, venturing into telecommunications fraud and even organ harvesting, leading to extremely dark practices, turning those areas into living hells. Any compound established by Chinese individuals, in reality, has connections to the CCP.
