Dog miraculously reunites with owner two years after getting lost, bringing tears to everyone’s eyes

In a heartwarming reunion, an emotional support dog from the United States, who had been missing for two years, miraculously found his way back to his owner, bringing tears of joy to both human and canine alike.

Samantha Powers from Indiana had almost given up hope of ever seeing her male bulldog named “Loki” again, the emotional support companion who had disappeared unexpectedly. However, her world was turned upside down when she received a phone call recently from a staff member at the Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control.

Deeply saddened by the loss of her beloved emotional support dog, Powers had tirelessly searched for Loki through various methods over the past two years without any success.

Community relations officer Abigail Reyes told Epoch Times that at the end of May 2024, Loki suddenly showed up at the doorstep of the Fort Wayne animal shelter, looking happy and healthy. Shelter staff speculated that someone may have found him homeless and taken him in, but Loki eventually escaped from that household on his own.

Upon stray animals entering the shelter, the first thing the staff do is scan them for microchips to identify their owners. “Everyone was thrilled when we heard the beep from the microchip reader because it meant we should be able to find its owner,” said Ms. Reyes.

Subsequently, the shelter successfully contacted Loki’s owner based on the information stored in the microchip.

In a Facebook post, the organization wrote: “When we made contact with its owner, we found out she had been missing him for nearly two years. When she unexpectedly learned the whereabouts of her beloved dog, she was simply overwhelmed with excitement!”

Unfortunately, Ms. Reyes did not witness the heartwarming surprise reunion between Powers and her dog. However, afterwards, when colleagues showed her the video captured at that moment, she was fortunate to witness this incredibly emotional moment.

“Loki immediately got excited and jumped into his owner’s arms, continuously licking her cheeks. It was clear he really missed his female owner,” said Ms. Reyes. “Reuniting lost pets with their owners holds extraordinary significance for our shelter and the owners alike.”

Ms. Reyes also took the opportunity to remind the public that if they happen to come across a stray or lost dog, they should bring it to a local vet clinic or animal shelter, or at least report the situation to the shelter. And if their own dog goes missing, owners should immediately file a report with the appropriate authorities.
