On December 26th, 2024, it was announced that Tong Guangyi, Director of the North China Regulatory Bureau of the National Energy Administration of the Chinese Communist Party, is under investigation.
According to a report by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervision Commission of the Chinese Communist Party on December 26th, Tong Guangyi, Party Secretary and Director of the North China Regulatory Bureau of the National Energy Administration, is suspected of serious violations of discipline and law. He is currently undergoing disciplinary review by the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Team stationed by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and National Supervision Commission at the National Development and Reform Commission, as well as under investigation by the Supervisory Commission of Baotou City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
Public information shows that Tong Guangyi was born in 1969 in Huanggang, Hubei Province. He started working in June 1989, holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Wuhan University, is a senior engineer, a researcher at the Center for Energy Economics and Sustainable Development at Peking University, a part-time professor at China Agricultural University, and a doctoral supervisor.
Tong Guangyi has held various positions, including Director of the Safety Supervision Department of the Southern Regulatory Bureau of the State Electricity Regulatory Commission, during which he was also appointed as Deputy Director of the Development and Reform Commission of Qinghai Province and as Vice Governor of Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. He has also served as Deputy Director of the Transmission Supervision Department of the State Electricity Regulatory Commission and Deputy Director of the Power Department of the National Energy Administration.
In 2016, Tong Guangyi was appointed Director of the Power Safety Supervision Department of the National Energy Administration, and in April 2022, he took on the role of Party Secretary and Director of the North China Regulatory Bureau of the National Energy Administration.
