Did the delivered takeaway that fell on the ground still get sent to the customer as usual? Differing Opinions

Last Saturday (April 5th), a video circulated on social media platforms in New York, such as Reddit and Facebook, showing a delivery person dropping a pizza from an order on the sidewalk. The person then picked it up and repackaged it to seemingly continue on to deliver it to the customer.

In the video, a delivery person dressed in black uniform was seen with a large pizza box strapped to the back of their electric bike. The voice-over in the video explained, “No matter whose order it is, he dropped it on the ground, you know? He picked it up from there, and now he’s going to deliver it…”

There was a flurry of discussion on the internet, with many netizens expressing that incidents like this were the reason they preferred to pick up their food rather than ordering delivery. A netizen named Katerina from New York commented, “I never order food delivery. If I do order, I pick it up myself. I don’t trust anyone touching my food.”

Another netizen remarked, “This is the price you pay for enjoying food delivery to your doorstep. You never know what might happen to your food. Lazy people, this is what you get.”

Some netizens even stated that they wouldn’t even eat at restaurants anymore.

However, some netizens argued that the video did not necessarily prove anything. “How do you know he was going to deliver it to the customer? Maybe he was going back to get a new pizza,” one comment read.

Another netizen said, “This is New York City, who cares about cleanliness? It’s just a piece of pizza.”

As the delivery person appeared to be an immigrant, some netizens brought up the issue of illegal immigration. “99% of delivery people are illegal immigrants, understand this fact fully,” one comment highlighted.
