【Epoch Times, November 15, 2024】 In Hernando County, Florida, a little kangaroo wearing a diaper escaped from its owner’s home. The authorities launched a search and eventually captured the adorable kangaroo, taking a cheerful photo with it.
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook on November 13, stating that a baby kangaroo wearing a diaper and a blue harness had escaped near J.D. Floyd Elementary School. It was possibly heading towards Plantation Palms.
The office mentioned that the kangaroo baby was only 4 months old. Some residents spotted it near the Wind Chime Tree. They emphasized that the Facebook post was not a joke.
Around 10 minutes later, the office updated that the police had found and captured the baby kangaroo, thanking all local residents for their assistance.
In response to the incident and the police post, some netizens seemed surprised, commenting, “A what? I swear, living in Florida feels like being in the movie Jumanji.”
Others said, “I’d rather see kangaroos in my backyard than see thugs assaulting border patrol agents.”
In a similar incident in Volusia County, Florida last week, another kangaroo that had escaped from its enclosure was captured after being on the run for three weeks.
Keeping kangaroos as pets in Florida is legal, but Kristen Turner, a spokesperson for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, said that the kangaroo’s owner could face a fine for failing to report its escape within 12 hours.
