Democratic Senator: Trump’s Assassination Marks a Dark Day in America.

Pennsylvania Democratic Senator John Fetterman called the attempted assassination against former President Trump a dark day in American history. The incident took place at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Fetterman’s hometown, where Trump’s ear was injured, resulting in one death and two injuries among the attendees. The gunman was shot dead on the spot.

During an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Fetterman expressed shock over the attack, describing it as a dark day for the country. He emphasized the importance of not politicizing the violence that occurred at the rally. Fetterman, who was participating in an event in Pennsylvania at the time of the incident, stated, “For me, this is not a political or strategic opportunity. For Pennsylvania, for our country, this is an incredibly dark day.”

Fetterman took to social media to offer condolences to the victims of the shooting and wished Trump a speedy recovery. Both President Biden and Vice President Harris have condemned the violent incident.

Republican Congressman Dan Meuser from Pennsylvania recounted the panic and chaos that ensued when gunfire erupted at the rally with Trump in attendance. Meuser, who was seated to Trump’s right, described hearing eight to ten gunshots just five to six minutes into Trump’s speech.

“People were understandably in a panic. The Secret Service sprang into action,” Meuser told The Hill, adding, “Secret Service personnel came out and instructed everyone to get down. There was a mix of panic and sadness. Many people were crying because they feared for the (former) president’s safety.”
