Daughter Falls from Building and Suffers Skull Fracture While Parents are Out Selling Breakfast

Recently, in Xinyang City, Henan Province, a six-year-old girl fell from the fifth floor of her home and remains unconscious, sparking attention.

According to reports in mainland Chinese media, the girl’s parents run a breakfast business and have to get up at 2:30 am every day to set up their stand. On the day of the incident, they left their daughter home alone as usual.

The girl’s father, Mr. Zhang, recalled that at 8 am, when he called home and no one answered, he rushed back upon learning from the neighbors that his daughter had fallen from the fifth floor. Mr. Zhang arrived to find his daughter lying unconscious on the ground.

Subsequently, he rushed his daughter to the hospital for treatment, where doctors informed him that her skull was fractured into four pieces and all bones above her eyebrows were broken. It has been a month since the incident, and his daughter remains in a coma. The doctors mentioned that while there is a possibility of her waking up, the treatment process would be extremely difficult and costly.

Faced with his daughter’s condition, Mr. Zhang deeply regrets the situation. He mentioned that he often used to remind his child not to go near windows and balconies, and his child was obedient. He never expected such an incident to occur.

To raise the enormous funds needed for his daughter’s ongoing treatment, he stated that he is planning to sell the only property they own.

The incident has garnered attention online, with many netizens expressing sympathy. Some said, “Those who work at 2 am are already having a hard time. Encountering such an incident, who wouldn’t feel distressed? The pain in their hearts is beyond words.” Others emphasized the importance of child safety in homes, saying, “Window guards are a must when you have children.”

There are also voices pointing out that the current situation makes it unrealistic for an ordinary couple to fulfill the task of raising offspring on their own.
