The situation in the Middle East has undergone changes, prompting the Taiwanese military to strengthen monitoring of Taiwan’s security dynamics. The Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China stated that from 6 a.m. on the 19th until 6 a.m. today (20th), a total of 56 Chinese Communist Party (CCP) aircraft and vessels were detected continuing activities around the Taiwan Strait, with the military closely monitoring and responding to the situation.
President of the Republic of China, Lai Ching-te, chaired a routine military meeting on the 19th, noting that CCP’s military pressure in the first and second island chains has not abated due to the Middle East situation. He instructed the Ministry of National Defense and the national security team to enhance comprehensive monitoring of the current regional security dynamics.
The Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China announced this morning the dynamics of CCP’s activities in the airspace near the Taiwan Strait. From 6 a.m. on the 19th to 6 a.m. today, a total of 50 CCP aircraft (of which 46 crossed the median line into the northern, southwestern, and eastern airspace) and 6 CCP vessels were detected, totaling 56 CCP aircraft and vessels continuing activities near the Taiwan Strait.
According to an illustration released by the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China today, CCP aircraft entered the airspace near the Taiwan Strait 13 times from 6:05 a.m. on the 19th until 12:05 a.m. today, including 9 instances of crossing the median line of the Taiwan Strait.
On the 19th, between 7 a.m. and 8:35 p.m., the Taiwanese military detected 36 CCP main and support fighter aircraft, drones, and helicopters in the southwest airspace of Taiwan. Then, between 2:55 p.m. and 6:35 p.m. in the eastern airspace of Taiwan, a CCP helicopter was spotted.
The Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China stated that the military is using surveillance aircraft, ships, and land-based missile systems to closely monitor and respond to the situation.
At 12:10 p.m. today, the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China issued a press release indicating that since 8:50 a.m., a total of 24 CCP aircraft, including Su-30 and KJ-500 main and support fighter jets, and drones had been detected conducting activities at sea, with 15 instances of crossing the median line and its extension into Taiwan’s central, southwestern, and eastern airspace. They accompanied CCP vessels under the guise of a “joint readiness and patrol,” harassing the airspace and waters around Taiwan.
The Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China emphasized that the military is closely monitoring the situation using joint intelligence surveillance means and deploying appropriate responses with surveillance aircraft, ships, and land-based missile systems.
