On the morning of the 26th, the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China announced the dynamics of Communist forces in the airspace around the Taiwan Strait. According to statistics from 6 am on the 25th to 6 am on the 26th, 11 sorties of Communist aircraft (9 of which crossed the middle line of the Taiwan Strait into northern, central, southwest, and southeast airspace) and 14 Communist vessels, and 2 government ships were detected. In total, 27 aircraft and vessels from the Communist Party continue to operate in the vicinity of the Taiwan Strait. In the afternoon of the 26th, the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China stated that starting from 8:42 am, a total of 32 sorties of various types of Communist fighters, bomber aircraft, early warning aircraft, and drones, including J-11 and KJ-500, have been detected engaging in maritime activities. 22 of these sorties crossed the midline and its extension into the airspace of northern and southwest Taiwan, coordinating with Communist vessels in the so-called “joint combat readiness patrols.”
The Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China pointed out that during this period, the Communist forces blatantly violated international norms by unexpectedly designating a training area about 40 nautical miles off the coast of Kaohsiung and Pingtung in the high seas, claiming that they would conduct “shooting exercises.” In response, the Ministry of Defense expressed strong condemnation and immediately dispatched naval, air, and land forces to monitor and respond accordingly.
According to news from the website of the Communist Party’s Foreign Ministry, during a regular press conference on the 26th, when asked about Taiwan’s claim that China unilaterally established a “shooting training” exercise area about 40 nautical miles off the southwest coast of Taiwan without prior notice, spokesperson Lin Jian only responded that this is not a diplomatic issue.
On the evening of the 26th, the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China stated that the Communist Navy in the Eastern Theater Command established a temporary exercise area in the southwest seas of Taiwan, claiming to conduct “shooting exercises.” The national army used mission aircraft, ships, and joint intelligence surveillance means to closely monitor the area. By 3:40 pm, the Communist forces withdrew from the “exercise area.” The national army will continue to grasp the dynamics of the surrounding sea and airspace and dispatch appropriate forces for vigilance and response.
