Recently, the top leader of the Chinese Communist Party visited Northeast China’s Liaoning Province for inspection, with state media creating a people-friendly image. However, during this period, local dissident and political writer Sun Daluo was subjected to stability maintenance measures and questioned about his whereabouts by the Chinese Ministry of Public Security.
On the afternoon of January 22nd and the morning of January 23rd, the Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping inspected Huizhou Island and Shenyang in Liaoning Province. Informed sources informed the Epoch Times reporter that on the afternoon of the 22nd, Liaoning political writer Sun Daluo began receiving calls from the police, closely inquiring about his whereabouts.
Sun Daluo, a native of Anshan, Liaoning Province, is the author of “History of Mao Zedong’s Power Tactics” and “History of Xi Jinping’s Power Tactics.” In 2021, he was sentenced to one year by the Chinese authorities on charges of “provocation and troublemaking.”
On the afternoon of the 22nd, while having lunch at home in Anshan, Sun Daluo suddenly received a call from an unknown number claiming to be a local police officer, asking him where he was currently located. Sun replied, “I have been released for two and a half years, and now I am a legal citizen. The constitution guarantees my right to travel and relocate freely. Wherever I go is my right.”
The police continued to question Sun Daluo about his current whereabouts, insisting that it was instructed from above. Sun Daluo was puzzled; even though the police had contacted him several times since he was released from prison two and a half years ago, they had never directly inquired about his whereabouts. Why the sudden change today? Shortly after, his wife Wang Liyan called to say that the police officer had asked her where Sun Daluo currently was, in Anshan or in Beijing. She replied, “He is in Anshan.”
On the morning of the 23rd, the police officer called Sun Daluo again, demanding that he immediately provide his specific address, stating, “The Beijing Public Security Bureau has asked us to clarify your specific address.”
Sun Daluo insisted on acting in accordance with the constitution, stating that it was his personal freedom to be wherever he chose and that it was unnecessary to disclose it. He was puzzled as to why the Beijing Public Security Bureau was so urgently inquiring about his whereabouts. It seemed that the entire police machinery of the Chinese Communist Party was in full swing to ascertain his specific location.
Informed sources stated that the Chinese Ministry of Public Security was monitoring his movements at this moment, fearing that he might turn up at the scene during Xi Jinping’s inspection of Liaoning. In the eyes of the Beijing Public Security Bureau, Sun Daluo seemed to be the most closely monitored political writer and political dissident in Liaoning Province. There are rumors circulating that Xi Jinping himself has read Sun Daluo’s book “History of Xi Jinping’s Power Tactics” published in Hong Kong.
According to the verdict of the Shenyang Economic and Technological Development Zone Court on Sun Daluo, Sun Zhiming (pen name Sun Daluo) wrote “History of Mao Zedong’s Power Tactics” and “History of Xi Jinping’s Power Tactics” from 1998 to 2015. The books adopted real-life names while “fabricating facts,” and were deemed as “banned publications.”
Due to this, Sun Daluo fell into disfavor due to his words. The elements constituting his charge of “provocation and troublemaking” include signing a publishing agreement with the Hong Kong Xiafeier Publishing Company, spreading book articles to WeChat and QQ friends, and giving away books at gatherings.
