Chinese-American Marine Corps member shoots lover and commits suicide in a love triangle incident

A tragedy sparked by emotional entanglements unfolded in the Queens neighborhood of Bayside on Saturday night, resulting in the deaths of two men. One of the deceased was an active-duty United States Marine Corps member living in Flushing, while the other was a 17-year-old high school student, with the catalyst believed to be a love triangle.

According to police sources, the shooting incident took place near Oceania Street and 48th Avenue in Bayside. After 10 p.m., law enforcement arrived at the scene to find 17-year-old Neo Secaira shot in the chest and 28-year-old Marine Corps member Frank Liu believed to have died by suicide with a gunshot wound to the head. The girlfriends of both men, including a Chinese girl, witnessed the bloody scene firsthand.

Both men were pronounced dead after being taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital.

Reported by the New York Post, the incident stemmed from emotional conflicts between the two deceased individuals and a 19-year-old woman. It is understood that this woman met Liu in North Carolina, where they had a long-standing relationship before returning to New York and cohabitating for six months at Liu’s residence. However, she recently confessed to also being involved with Secaira, triggering intense emotional turmoil in Liu.

Liu’s father, Huili Liu, revealed in an interview with the Post that his son had been receiving psychological treatment for an extended period, especially since losing several comrades during his service in Jordan and facing emotional issues, which had placed immense mental strain on him.

It was reported that the teenage victim received a call from his girlfriend on the day of the incident, prompting him to leave work early to pick her up, only to tragically fall victim to the gunfire.
