The National Defense Veterans Affairs Committee of the Republic of China (ROC) stated that the Alumni Association of the Central Military Academy and the Alumni Association of Fuxinggang held the “80th Anniversary of the Victory in the War of Resistance and Commemoration Concert for Mr. Chiang Ching-kuo” on the 10th. Vice Chairman Chen Jin-guang of the Veterans Affairs Committee expressed gratitude for the contributions of former ROC President Chiang Ching-kuo and the continued care for veterans.

On the 10th, the Veterans Affairs Committee issued a press release indicating that the Alumni Association of the Central Military Academy and the Alumni Association of Fuxinggang organized the “80th Anniversary of the Victory in the War of Resistance and Commemoration Concert for Mr. Chiang Ching-kuo” on the eve of the 37th anniversary of the passing of former ROC President Chiang Ching-kuo, at the International Conference Center of the CPC Building in Taipei.

During the event, performances were given by the Fuxinggang Chorus and the Qingtian Chorus from the National Day celebration, and military veterans and their families were invited to participate. Through powerful singing, the event commemorated the spirit of sacrifice of the martyrs of the War of Resistance and paid tribute to Chiang Ching-kuo’s visionary efforts in building Taiwan. The concert aimed to unite alumni of military academies, veterans, and the public in patriotic sentiments through music.

According to the Veterans Affairs Committee, Chiang Ching-kuo, wearing a simple jacket, often mingled with the people, visited every corner of Taiwan, and made friends from all walks of life. Eleven civilian friends in particular symbolized Chiang’s approachability and grassroots connections, reflecting his down-to-earth and folksy style, which became legendary.

The committee further stated, “Chiang Ching-kuo led Taiwan throughout his life, working with elites from various sectors to develop Taiwan economically through initiatives such as the Ten Major Construction Projects, while also promoting democratization and localization in politics, laying the foundation for a peaceful and prosperous ROC. Through this concert, we express gratitude to Chiang Ching-kuo, remember our elderly veterans (a term of respect for ROC veterans), and all retired and active service members who have brought stability and happiness to our lives. With our voices, we pray for the everlasting prosperity of the ROC and world peace.”
