CBA coach Liu Weiwei exposed for cheating, brings mistress to team event.

Recently, the head coach of the CBA Qingdao Guoxin Haitian Basketball Club, Liu Weiwei, was exposed for having an affair, bringing his mistress to team events, and even threatening his wife and daughter. This scandal has caused a stir online.

On April 3, Liu Weiwei’s wife, Li Yan, took to her personal social media to accuse him of having an affair with a woman named Xin Shasha, whom he brought to the team’s celebration banquet and even engaged in intimate video calls in front of their daughter.

According to Li Yan’s post, Liu Weiwei met Xin Shasha, a married woman, last year and they started an affair. Liu Weiwei even went out to dinner with Xin Shasha and her husband, openly referring to Xin Shasha as “wife” in text messages to her, which led to her husband catching them in the act.

Feeling cornered, on December 8, 2024, Liu Weiwei asked Li Yan to transfer 4 million RMB to him under the pretense of buying a Bentley, while Li Yan was unaware of his infidelity as she was in Hangzhou taking care of their family. After three months of absence from home, on December 15, Li Yan suggested visiting him in Qingdao with their two daughters, but Liu Weiwei rejected, claiming to be too busy.

Upon receiving the 4 million RMB from Li Yan on December 20, Liu Weiwei asked for a divorce citing “lack of feelings.” By the end of December, he openly started accompanying Xin Shasha to team events without Li Yan’s knowledge. It wasn’t until January 16, when their eldest daughter went to Qingdao and found makeup products belonging to another woman in Liu Weiwei’s room, that Li Yan discovered the truth with the help of her daughters.

On the twenty-ninth day of the Lunar New Year, Liu Weiwei returned to Hangzhou to pressure Li Yan into signing divorce papers, but the attempt failed due to lack of prior arrangement. The following day, the whole family went to the United States for business, during which Liu Weiwei, faced with accusations from his wife and daughters, threatened to burn down their daughter’s school and destroy Li Yan’s company in a fit of rage.

Li Yan expressed that over their eighteen years of marriage, it was her encouragement and support that contributed to Liu Weiwei’s success today. Since February, she had hoped for Liu Weiwei to repent, but his stubbornness and lack of remorse have shattered her illusions about their marriage.

After the scandal broke, Xin Shasha’s identity was exposed by netizens: a post-95 graduate in Broadcasting and Hosting from the 2013 class of an Art College, working as a noon program host and owning a health spa in Qingdao.

Qingdao men’s basketball team general manager Zhang Beihai and Liaoning men’s basketball team head coach Yang Ming were aware of Liu Weiwei’s affair. According to Li Yan’s revelations, Liu Weiwei used meeting with “good friend Yang Ming (Liaoning men’s basketball coach)” as an excuse to secretly date Xin Shasha. Chat logs between Li Yan and Zhang Beihai also show that he acknowledged Liu Weiwei’s actions and expressed guilt, having reprimanded him several times.

As of now, Qingdao men’s basketball club has not issued an official statement on the matter, and Liu Weiwei himself has not publicly responded.

On April 4, Li Yan once again posted, sharing a photo of Liu Weiwei with Xin Shasha, and captioned: “Since the Chinese Basketball Association, Qingdao team, and CBA are not taking action, we will take matters into our own hands! Thanks to the fans for providing evidence!”

Liu Weiwei, 42 years old, is a well-known coach in the CBA. He previously coached the Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank men’s basketball team before joining Qingdao men’s basketball team in May 2022.
