California man reunites with missing dog after house burned down, tears streaming down his face.

In California, the wildfires in Los Angeles County have been raging for several days, destroying many homes and even claiming the lives of people and animals. Amidst the devastation, a man was reunited with his missing dog after their home was burnt to the ground, a heartwarming moment that brought tears of joy to many.

According to NBC News, the man, Casey Colvin, resided in the Pacific Palisades community in Los Angeles County. Following the outbreak of a massive fire on January 7th, local authorities issued evacuation orders, but at that time, Casey was at work while his two pet dogs, Oreo and Tika Tika Tika, were at home.

Casey spent five hours trying to navigate the congested traffic to rush back home and rescue his beloved canines, but he was unable to reach his house. Fortunately, firefighters extended a helping hand, searching for the dogs in his home, but they only found Tika Tika Tika while Oreo remained missing.

Hours later, Casey’s house was engulfed in flames, and the whereabouts of Oreo remained unknown.

In his quest to find Oreo, Casey posted flyers with the dog’s description around the area, and NBC journalist Liz Kreutz also shared Oreo’s disappearance on her Instagram page, hoping for assistance in the search efforts.

Neighbors reported sightings of Oreo, and with the help of a volunteer dog searcher, on January 12th, Casey finally found Oreo after the dog had been missing for five days. Oreo was discovered sleeping amongst the rubble of a neighbor’s house.

With a squeaky toy in one hand and another dog in his arm, Casey approached the neighbor’s doorstep as Oreo sat on the driveway. Using a sweet voice to coax Oreo closer, Casey persuaded the dog to walk into his embrace along the driveway.

Filled with overwhelming emotions, Casey lifted Oreo and joyously exclaimed about his beloved pet’s return. This heartwarming reunion was captured by Liz Kreutz and shared on Instagram, receiving over 30,000 likes.

Casey expressed his gratitude to Liz Kreutz for her assistance.

On January 14th, the southern winds in California intensified, posing new challenges for firefighters battling the blazes. The wildfire has already claimed the lives of at least 24 people and left another 24 individuals missing.

The National Weather Service issued a rare red warning, stating that the “particularly dangerous” weather conditions could lead to “explosive fire growth.”

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the ongoing wildfire.
