On Tuesday, December 3, the transition team of President-elect Trump (Trump) in the United States signed a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Justice, allowing the Department of Justice to conduct background checks on the nominees for the new cabinet and new government appointees.
This agreement with the Department of Justice, as quoted by the Associated Press, ensures that President Trump and his team can be ready to implement the “America First Agenda” on their first day in office, a plan that was overwhelmingly supported by the American people on election day, according to Susie Wiles, the White House Chief of Staff appointed by Trump.
This move will allow Trump’s transition team and future government personnel to obtain security clearances before the presidential inauguration on January 20, in order to access confidential information about government plans, which is a necessary step for a smooth transition of power.
Currently, a team of investigators from the Department of Justice is on standby to conduct background checks on the new personnel of the Trump administration.
