Breaking News: Power Plant Failure in Cuba Causes Blackout for Millions

Cuban Ministry of Energy and Mines announced that the country’s largest power plant experienced a malfunction, causing the national grid to collapse in the early hours of Wednesday (December 4th) local time, leaving millions in darkness.

The biggest energy producer in Cuba, the Antonio Guiteras power plant in Matanzas, suffered a breakdown overnight leading to the grid’s collapse on Wednesday.

Over the past two months, Cuba’s power system has been plagued by chaos due to fuel shortages, natural disasters, and economic crises, resulting in several such failures.

According to reports from CNN, the state-owned utility company, Cuban Electric Union, stated that workers are working tirelessly to repair the grid. However, local officials have warned residents that the process of fixing the aging Soviet-era power stations is extremely challenging and may take several days to complete.
