Bay Area police issue 24 tickets to “distracted drivers” within 10 hours

The Petaluma city police in North Bay took enforcement action last Friday (April 5th) against distracted driving by issuing over 20 tickets within a span of 10 hours. According to California law, using a mobile phone while driving carries a minimum fine of $162.

Distracted driving has been a growing concern as it poses serious risks to road safety. The police department’s crackdown on distracted drivers is part of ongoing efforts to promote safe driving habits and reduce the number of accidents on the road.

The penalties for distracted driving offenses serve as a reminder for motorists to prioritize their attention on the road and avoid distractions such as using mobile devices while driving. The enforcement actions taken by the police aim to deter drivers from engaging in dangerous behaviors that could endanger themselves and others on the road.
