At least 10 injured in a stampede at the Dallas cheerleading competition.

During the National Cheerleaders Association All-Star National Championship held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, USA on Saturday, a physical altercation between two individuals led to equipment collapsing and a loud noise, causing a massive stampede that resulted in at least 10 people being injured and hospitalized.

The Dallas police received a report at 1 p.m. local time and promptly arrived at the scene. Initially, there were reports of a possible shooting inside the convention center, but after investigation, the authorities confirmed that there was no shooting incident but rather a physical confrontation between two individuals that caused multiple metal poles to fall, triggering panic among the crowd due to the loud noise.

“These noises caused panic among the crowd inside the venue, leading to a large-scale stampede,” the Dallas police stated in a release.

Following the incident, the police set up a reunification center for relatives to assist in reuniting family members who got separated amidst the chaos.

According to the local media outlet, The Dallas Morning News, Jason Evans, a spokesman for the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department, stated that at least 10 people were injured in the stampede and were taken to hospitals. The injuries included abrasions, bruises, and limb fractures, fortunately all non-life-threatening.

“All the injuries occurred during the evacuation process, thankfully no one is in critical condition,” Evans mentioned.

The competition was part of the 2025 NCA All-Star National Championship organized by the Dallas Sports Commission, marking the largest event in the organization’s history. It was expected to attract over 58,000 spectators, including more than 30,000 cheerleaders from 43 states and 9 countries.

The National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) posted on Facebook that the competition was suspended for the day and emphasized cooperation with local law enforcement and venue management to ensure the safety of the environment. The organization’s spokesperson stated that the competition would resume on Sunday, March 2.

Currently, the police have not disclosed whether anyone has been arrested for the altercation and are still conducting further investigations into the incident.
