On November 27th, former deputy mayor of Anqing City, Anhui Province, was officially announced to have been expelled from the party and removed from public office due to serious violations of discipline and law.
According to the announcement, Lu Yingping, former party member and deputy mayor of Anqing City, Anhui, is under investigation for serious violations of discipline and law.
He is accused of obstructing the investigation, not truthfully explaining the issues, illegally collecting fees from local enterprises, increasing their burden, engaging in power and money transactions under the guise of serving enterprises, using his position for personal gain, and brazenly soliciting and accepting bribes.
Lu Yingping’s alleged criminal issues have been transferred to the procuratorate for review and prosecution.
Lu Yingping was reported to have fallen from grace while in office in May this year.
His resume shows that before serving as deputy mayor, Lu Yingping held positions such as deputy secretary of the Anqing City Committee, director of the Policy Research Office of the Municipal Committee, director of the Municipal Committee Office, mayor of Tongcheng City, director of the Tongcheng Economic Development Zone Management Committee, secretary of the Daguan District Committee of Anqing City, and secretary of the Susong County Committee.
In March 2022, Lu Yingping took office as deputy mayor of Anqing City, but was investigated after only two years in office.
Following the news of his downfall, on June 20th, the Standing Committee of the Anqing Municipal People’s Congress released a list of dismissal personnel, deciding to dismiss Lu Yingping from his position as deputy mayor of Anqing City.
In recent times, several officials in Anqing City have been dealt with. One of them is Zhang Jian, member of the Anqing City Government, secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Anqing Economic and Technological Development Zone, and director of the Management Committee.
In September this year, He Meng, former director of the Urban Construction, Environmental Protection, and Resource Conservation Work Committee of the Standing Committee of the Anqing Municipal People’s Congress and former director of the Municipal Gardens Bureau, was also expelled from the party and public office due to disciplinary violations.
