Recently, parents in Liu’an City, Anhui Province, revealed that teachers at a kindergarten were abusing children by using bamboo sticks to poke their mouths, slapping them, and even punishing them by making them stand on one leg. This shocking revelation has sparked widespread attention on social media.
On November 9, Mr. Jin, a parent, reported that teachers at the Love Baby Kindergarten in Sunshine European City, Jin’an District of Liu’an City, were physically abusing children. He provided a 9-minute and 56-second video showing the abuse.
Mr. Jin stated, “You can see on the surveillance footage, this female teacher’s actions are not isolated incidents. She pokes the children’s mouths with a bamboo stick, causing them pain, then presses the child against her leg. How cruel can someone be?”
The surveillance video from November 7 at 2:31 pm shows the teachers trying to discipline the children who had just woken up from their nap. One female teacher can be seen pulling, shoving, slapping, and even spinning a child’s head with a hoodie covering it, as well as poking the child’s head with her fingers. She then proceeds to make a child stand on one leg as a form of punishment.
The concerned parent mentioned, “These are children in the preschool 2 class, which means they have been attending the kindergarten for the second year. The children probably dare not speak up when they go back home, and they may not fully understand the seriousness of the situation. The two female teachers committing these acts, while another teacher stood by apathetically.”
“This incident came to light coincidentally because the class was originally in a different room. When they moved to this room, the teacher may have overlooked the surveillance, but the vigilant parent noticed something was off and decided to record it.”
The incident quickly gained traction on social media platforms with comments such as, “The principal bears the ultimate responsibility. How can they manage their teachers like this?” “Schools should conduct regular checks on surveillance cameras.” “Kindergartens should have surveillance in all public areas for parents to monitor at any time.” “Why can’t we learn from Western legal practices in protecting children and ensuring food safety?”
On November 10, the “Jin’an Announcements” public account reported that the Jin’an District Education Bureau received complaints from parents on the 7th regarding a teacher physically punishing students. After an investigation, it was found that a teacher named Jin of Class 1 at the kindergarten was involved in such misconduct. On the 8th, the police took compulsory measures against Jin and processed two educational staff who were present but failed to intervene appropriately.
Public records show that the Love Baby Kindergarten in Sunshine European City was established in 2017. In 2022, they hired a head teacher who needed to have at least a college degree and relevant teaching certifications and experience were preferred. In July 2020, the kindergarten was recognized as a first-class kindergarten at the municipal level by the Education Bureau of Liu’an City.
