On February 17, a netizen posted a video claiming that a fire had broken out in Anhui Province, resulting in multiple fatalities.

Several online videos show a industrial factory engulfed in flames, with smoke rising and covering a large part of the sky like a mushroom cloud.

A netizen passing through Guangde at noon mentioned that the entire sky seemed to be covered in dark clouds, leading him to believe that a heavy rainstorm was approaching, only to find out later that it was a fire.

According to a report from the Netease account “Gentle World,” eyewitnesses at the scene revealed that the factory involved in the fire was producing highly flammable and explosive products. The fire spread at a much faster pace than expected and took five hours to extinguish. A netizen disclosed that an explosion occurred during the rescue operation, resulting in the tragic deaths of three young firefighters.

On February 20, several villagers from Lvcun in Guangde, Anhui, informed the Xinjing News that all three firefighters were locals of Guangde and in their twenties.

One of the villagers with inside information mentioned that one of the firefighters, named Chen Kai, was 28 years old and was planning to get married in May.

A netizen named “Jiajie” commented in a video post, “When they were found, there were only three helmets left. It was impossible to distinguish whose was whose, they even needed to do DNA testing…”

The incident has evoked sympathy from many netizens, with comments like, “It happened in my hometown, and they were all so young, only in their twenties, it’s really heartbreaking.” “The sacrifices were made by the children of ordinary people, who earn the least but risk their lives.” “They all came from families facing financial difficulties, their children took on dangerous work to lessen their parents’ burden. They were too young and did not know how to protect themselves. How can the parents go on living now? It’s like the sky has fallen.”

Another netizen mentioned, “One of them was the son of my cousin.”
