An oil tanker collided with a cargo ship in the North Sea.

On Monday, the UK Coast Guard reported that an oil tanker collided with a cargo ship in the North Sea.

According to a statement from the UK Coast Guard, on Monday morning, lifeboats and a Coast Guard helicopter arrived at the Humber Estuary, where it is believed that the oil tanker MV Stena Immaculate, flying the American flag, collided with a cargo ship.

Data from the vessel tracking tool Vesselfinder showed that the American oil tanker was anchored in that location at the time of the incident.

A spokesman for the Coast Guard stated that they are currently coordinating emergency rescue efforts to handle reports of the collision between the oil tanker and the cargo ship near the East Yorkshire coast.

At 9:48 am local time, alarms started ringing.

According to the statement, a Coast Guard rescue helicopter from Humberside, as well as lifeboats from Skegness, Bridlington, Maplethorpe, and Cleethorpes, and a fixed-wing aircraft from the UK Coast Guard, along with nearby fire-fighting capable vessels, rushed to the scene to participate in the rescue operation.

“The incident is still ongoing,” the statement said.
