During the Qingming Festival holiday, many netizens from Anhui Province have noticed that warning signs such as “Drivers be cautious with intelligent driving assistance or turn off intelligent driving assistance” have been added on highways. This is believed to be related to the recent explosion on the Xiaomi SU7 expressway, which resulted in the death of 3 people.
According to the official Weibo account of Ba’nan Integrated Media in Ba’nan District, Chongqing, Anhui Highways have added warnings such as “The highway conditions are complex, do not use intelligent driving assistance”, “Use intelligent driving assistance with caution”, and “Turn off intelligent driving assistance on construction sections”.
Netizen “Not Zheng Xiaokang” posted that the warning messages encountered are more forceful, directly instructing drivers to “turn off intelligent driving assistance”.
Another netizen “Tech Anan” also mentioned that after the collision and explosion incident on the Xiaomi SU7 expressway, many signs advising to turn off intelligent driving assistance have appeared on highways. It seems that this incident has had a significant impact, instilling a sense of caution towards intelligent driving among drivers.
In response to this, a reporter from Nandu made a phone call to the Anhui Highway Service hotline for verification, where the phone operator stated, “For inquiries regarding the use of driving assistance, it is advised to contact the corresponding traffic police squadron of the section, and information about toll booth entrances and exits for the relevant sections should be provided.”
The staff from the Deshang Expressway Chizhou section stated that relevant warnings have indeed been issued, but whether owners will be prohibited from using intelligent driving functions or whether enforcement will take place, the staff member mentioned that they are “not very clear about the specifics”.
The Traffic Police Squadron of Chizhou City Public Security Bureau suggested that if possible, try to avoid using intelligent driving assistance as much as possible. As for whether it can be used on other sections of the expressways, that would depend on the corresponding management department of the jurisdiction.
