A man in Guangdong took out a one million yuan mortgage to buy a wedding house, only to find out his girlfriend was the same person.

Recently, Guangdong has reported that as many as 36 men took out million yuan housing loans for their girlfriends to buy houses, becoming owners in the same building. It turns out that the girlfriends are all the same person, “Liu Jia”, who disappeared after the house purchases. Netizens speculated that these men fell victim to a “kill-pig scheme”, tricked and swindled by a beautiful real estate broker.

According to Guangdong TV, a man named A Yao revealed that “Liu Jia” claimed to be a 30-year-old woman from Hunan working in e-commerce in Shenzhen. In March last year, he met “Liu Jia” on a dating platform, quickly established a romantic relationship, and began discussing marriage.

However, “Liu Jia” insisted on buying a house before meeting their families and getting engaged. She even offered a 30,000 yuan deposit as a down payment and “strongly recommended” residential areas like Jiujingtai and Haoyishangyuan in Huizhou’s Zhongkai High-Tech Zone. At that time, these property developers were offering substantial housing subsidies of over ten thousand yuan.

A Yao described “Liu Jia” as very gentle, wise, family-oriented, and considerate, a perfect girlfriend.

Lost in love, A Yao didn’t think much and quickly began the house purchase process. However, during the property registration, “Liu Jia” refused for various reasons to include her name. After completing the purchase process, her attitude took a complete turn, eventually blocking him and cutting off all contact.

A Yao estimated that at least 36 property owners, mostly around 30 years old and from the working-class in Shenzhen, had been scammed by their “former girlfriend” to buy houses in Jiujingtai and Haoyishangyuan in Huizhou’s Zhongkai High-Tech Zone. The duration of their “relationship” with “Liu Jia” typically did not exceed one month.

However, these men, burdened with million yuan housing loans, not only lost their girlfriends but also couldn’t move into the houses due to the long commute.

A Yao said that he now has to pay 4100 yuan in housing loans every month, in addition to rent in Shenzhen and taking care of his elders. “I dare not have a girlfriend now,” he said.

The incident sparked heated discussions online. Some netizens joked, “Couldn’t understand one, she talks about a whole building.” “She turned this place into Liu Jia’s neighborhood.”

Some netizens pointed out that this is just a “housing scam”, saying, “It feels like this Liu Jia is a premium real estate salesperson.” Another netizen mentioned, “It’s an old trick, it happened over a decade ago, real estate agents tricking people into buying houses using love and marriage as excuses.”
