Was Carina Lau Mistakenly Involved in a Kidnapping Incident in the Past? Wang Jing Reveals the True Intention of the Criminal.

Hong Kong director Wong Jing updated his YouTube channel on March 16 with the latest episode of “Wong Jing’s Take on the Entertainment Industry,” continuing to focus on the gossip news from the heyday of the Hong Kong entertainment industry. When discussing the incident where Carina Lau was kidnapped and indecent photos of her were taken, he said, “The real target of the criminals at that time was not Carina Lau, but Miss Hong Kong runner-up Li Meifeng in 1987.”

In 1990, Hong Kong was shocked by a kidnapping case involving a celebrity, with the victim being the 25-year-old Carina Lau at that time. Hong Kong director Wong Jing, who found himself with no movie projects in mainland China recently, has turned to the field of live streaming. On March 16, he recalled on his YouTube channel program “Wong Jing’s Take on the Entertainment Industry” that on the day of Carina Lau’s incident, she was originally driving to actor Tony Leung Chiu-Wai’s home but encountered an accident with four masked men waiting for her outside the building.

According to later reports from Hong Kong media, Carina Lau was taken by the masked men to a secluded abandoned factory, where she experienced the darkest moment of her life. Under the coercion of the criminals, she was photographed in some indecent positions. Fortunately, she managed to escape in the end.

Regarding this incident, Wong Jing explained the cause and effect and stated that it was not as rumored by the public. Previously, the speculation regarding Carina Lau’s kidnapping was that she had offended a powerful figure in the industry with her strong personality, leading to deliberate retaliation. However, Wong Jing mentioned that Carina Lau’s kidnapping was purely accidental.

Wong Jing mentioned on the program, “This incident was quite terrifying, but I heard that the actual target of those individuals was not Carina Lau at all; it was Miss Hong Kong Li Meifeng at that time. They lost track of Li Meifeng and coincidentally encountered Carina Lau, so they changed their target and kidnapped her instead.” Wong Jing exclaimed, “Carina Lau was just unlucky that day to encounter these ruffians,” adding that “this incident was particularly sensational, and of course, an unfortunate event.”

Reports indicated that Li Meifeng later learned about the truth of the case and, in order to prevent any unforeseen circumstances, she swiftly got married and retired from the entertainment industry at the peak of her career. Carina Lau could be seen as a shield for Li Meifeng against disasters.
