Father and Son in Leshan City, Sichuan Province Fall from Horse on the Same Day

On February 13, Zhang Xianfu, former chairman of the Jinkouhe District Political Consultative Conference in Leshan City, and his son, Zhang Chuan, party committee secretary, director, and level-four researcher of the Natural Resources Bureau of Jinkouhe District in Leshan City, were investigated on suspicion of serious violations of discipline and law.

According to a report from the Discipline Inspection Commission of Sichuan Province on the 13th, Zhang Xianfu is suspected of serious violations of discipline and law and is currently undergoing disciplinary review and supervision investigation by the Leshan City Discipline Inspection Commission.

Shortly after the news of Zhang Xianfu’s investigation was released, the Leshan City Discipline Inspection Commission issued another notice: Zhang Chuan, party committee secretary, director, and level-four researcher of the Natural Resources Bureau of Jinkouhe District in Leshan City, is also under investigation for serious violations of discipline and law.

According to confirmation from a journalist from Red Star News, Zhang Xianfu and Zhang Chuan are father and son.

Public records show that the 75-year-old Zhang Xianfu, a native of Leshan, Sichuan, has held various positions including Deputy Secretary of the Communist Youth League Committee of Jinkouhe Gongnong Demonstration Zone, Party Secretary of Jinhe Commune, Propaganda Department Director of the District Committee, Deputy District Chief of the Jinkouhe District Government, Chairman of the District Political Consultative Conference, and District Researcher of the Political Consultative Conference. Zhang Xianfu took early retirement in August 2010.

His 48-year-old son, Zhang Chuan, has held positions such as Deputy Director of the Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Bureau of Jinkouhe District in Leshan City, Deputy Secretary and Mayor of Yonghe Town, Director of the Jinkouhe District Jinkou Grand Canyon Scenic Area Management Committee, Deputy Director of the District Committee’s Propaganda Department, Director of the Leshan Jinkou Grand Canyon Scenic Area Management Committee (Director), Party Secretary of the Heping Yi Ethnic Township in Jinkouhe District, Director of the Mediation Center, First-level Principal Officer, Level-four Researcher, and Party Committee Secretary, Director, and Level-four Researcher of the Natural Resources Bureau of Jinkouhe District until the investigation.
