The Golden Gate Bay Area National Day Committee held its election for the 48th session of the Chinese National Day Committee on the evening of January 23 (Thursday) at the South Bay Overseas Chinese Education Center. Committee for Overseas Chinese Affairs Promotion Lin Xiuchun was elected as the Chairman of the Golden Gate Bay Area Chinese National Day Committee.

A total of 57 committee members and representatives attended the meeting that evening, with the Director of the Overseas Chinese Education Center, Zhuang Yashu, also in attendance.

The 47th session chairman of the Golden Gate Bay Area Chinese National Day Committee, Ye Yunhe, expressed his gratitude to all members, advisors, and volunteers for their hard work in making the New Year’s flag-raising ceremony better every year and successfully concluded. He mentioned that the ceremony exceeded expectations, attracting nearly 800 overseas Chinese to participate. Despite the shortage of snack boxes due to the surge in numbers, he believed that with everyone’s joint efforts, the next event will be even better.

Director Zhuang Yashu stated that the National Day Committee is an important organization in Northern California, leading various National Day activities every year. This year’s New Year flag-raising ceremony was a great success with record-high attendance. She thanked Chairman Ye and his team for their efforts over the past year in organizing multiple events and leading the team back to Taiwan to convey the support of the overseas Chinese in Northern California for the Republic of China. She believes the new chairman will continue the tradition, unite the strength of overseas Chinese, and support the Republic of China together.

During the meeting, Lin Xiuchun and Song Zhen were nominated as the next chairman. In a total of 57 ballots, Lin Xiuchun won with 27 votes, while Song Zhen received 25 votes, with 5 ballots disqualified. After confirming the voting results repeatedly, Lin Xiuchun was successfully elected as the Chairman of the 48th session of the Golden Gate Bay Area Chinese National Day Committee.

Chairman Lin Xiuchun, who was elected, expressed her dedication to the overseas Chinese community for over a decade, quietly contributing. During her tenure as the president of the Chinese Universities and Colleges Association in 2022, she organized numerous large-scale events, accumulating rich experience. She deeply believes that the national anthem and the country are the root of the soul, and hopes to spread this emotion to more people through the National Day Committee.

Additionally, due to Wang Dejin’s letter to the National Day Committee stating his resignation as a member, personal committee elections were held during the meeting. In the end, Chen Siru received 31 votes out of 57 ballots and was successfully elected as a personal committee member of the National Day Committee. ◇
