After falling from grace for over 9 months, Long Fei, the head of the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Team of the Southern Power Grid in China, has been officially charged with bribery, with the amount involved described as enormous. Long Fei had worked in the Chinese aerospace system for over thirty years.
On November 21, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of the Communist Party of China announced that the investigation into Long Fei, former member of the Party organization and head of the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Team of the Southern Power Grid Limited Liability Company, on suspicion of bribery had ended, and the case had been sent for prosecution by the Yantai City Procuratorate in Shandong Province. Recently, the prosecution has brought charges against him to the Intermediate People’s Court of Yantai.
The prosecution alleges that Long Fei, in his positions as secretary of the general manager’s office of China Aerospace Machinery and Electronics Corporation, deputy director and director of the general manager’s office of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation, head of the discipline inspection team of China Three Gorges Corporation, and head of the discipline inspection and supervision team of Southern Power Grid Limited Liability Company, took advantage of his positions to benefit others by accepting bribes, with an exceptionally large amount involved, leading to charges of bribery and criminal liability.
On February 5th of this year, Long Fei was officially removed from his post, becoming the seventh senior official investigated since 2024.
On August 1st, Long Fei was expelled from the Party and transferred to judicial authorities. According to the information released at the time, Long Fei was involved in exchanging power for benefits, engaging in corrupt activities related to money and relationships, exploiting his position to benefit others in job transfers, business operations, project contracts, and unlawfully receiving significant sums.
Public records show that Long Fei was born in August 1969 in Guang’an, Sichuan Province. He started working in August 1992 and had a career in the aerospace industry for more than thirty years. In his early years, he worked at the Fifth Research Institute of China Aerospace Industry Corporation (Aerospace Fifth Institute is a military research institute).
Starting from July 1999, Long Fei held positions such as secretary of the general manager’s office of China Aerospace Machinery and Electronics Corporation, director of the general manager’s office of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation, and chairman of Aerospace Science and Industry Shenzhen (Group) Co., Ltd.
In June 2014, Long Fei became the head of the discipline inspection group of China Three Gorges Corporation, and in 2020, he assumed the position of head of the discipline inspection and supervision team at Southern Power Grid.
