The Golden Bay Area National Day Committee held a press conference on October 22 (Tuesday) to announce their upcoming visit to Taiwan in November. The purpose of this visit is to enhance mutual visits, unite overseas and domestic forces, and express the patriotism of overseas compatriots.
The visiting delegation to Taiwan, organized by the National Day Committee, consists of 12 members and will visit various government departments from November 11 to 15, including the Overseas Community Affairs Council, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Legislative Yuan, as well as several counties and cities in the northern, central, and southern regions of Taiwan. During their stay, the delegation will be received by key officials such as the Mayor of Taipei City, the Acting Mayor of Hsinchu City, the Mayor of Taichung City, the Mayor of Tainan City, and the Mayor of Kaohsiung City.
Additionally, the delegation will visit the King Motor Corporation and Ward Dynamic Energy Company, bringing symbolic gifts such as multifunctional shoulder bags, National Day publications, and flags of the National Day Committee to the visited entities.
Yeh Yunhe, Chairman of the Golden Bay Area National Day Committee, stated that the theme of this visit to Taiwan is “Building Consensus, Uniting Strength.” The purpose is to express gratitude for the support from the Overseas Community Affairs Council and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, promote national diplomacy, enhance the understanding of the significance of the National Day activities in the San Francisco Bay Area by the Taiwanese government and people, and gain a deeper insight into the national conditions to better coordinate with the operation of the overseas communities.
He emphasized that besides fostering exchanges, the most crucial aspect is mutual visits and participation in celebratory events. He hopes that during next year’s Flag Raising Ceremony on New Year’s Day, Taiwanese legislators or municipal officials could be invited to witness the celebrations in the Golden Bay Area firsthand. He believes that this initial visit will mark a meaningful and fruitful beginning.
Chuang Yashu, Director of the Overseas Chinese Education Center, highlighted the significance of this delegation visit by the Golden Bay Area National Day Committee to Taiwan. Firstly, it conveys the patriotism of the northern California overseas community towards the Republic of China. Secondly, the National Day flag-raising event held annually in Santa Clara County’s square is symbolic, as Santa Clara County and Hsinchu County are sister counties, and there are strong connections between several cities in the South Bay and Taiwan. She believes that this delegation visit by the National Day Committee will further promote exchanges between Taiwan and various counties and cities in Northern California and enhance economic, trade, and cultural cooperation opportunities.
It is understood that this visit by the Golden Bay Area National Day Committee to Taiwan is the first time that overseas National Day Committees from various countries have voluntarily organized a visit to Taiwan, with all members participating at their own expense.
