8 people killed, 50 injured in explosion at gas station in Yemen’s Al-Bayda province

On Sunday (January 12), a gas station and storage tank exploded in al-Bayda province in Yemen, according to medical sources and local officials. The explosion resulted in 8 deaths and 50 injuries.

Another report from the Russian news agency Sputnik cited al-Bayda province officials stating that the gas station explosion caused a large fire, resulting in 7 deaths and 65 injuries, with 15 of those injured in critical condition. The accident also damaged over twenty vehicles. Yemeni security forces have begun investigating the cause of the incident.

In the ongoing conflict in al-Bayda province in central Yemen, the Shia military and political movement “Ansar Allah” (known as the Houthi rebels) and armed factions opposed to them have recently clashed.
