6 dead and 3 injured in collision between truck and van in Guangxi

On the morning of February 24th, at around 7 a.m., a traffic accident occurred in Yantang Town, Zhongshan County, Guangxi, involving a collision between two vehicles, resulting in 6 deaths and 3 injuries.

According to Xinhua News Agency, the accident took place on the Baishajing section of National Highway 323 in Yantang Town, Zhongshan County, involving a collision between a truck and a van. The accident resulted in 4 deaths on the spot, with 2 individuals succumbing to injuries after rescue efforts, and 3 others sustaining injuries.

Some local internet users revealed that the accident involved the ex-girlfriend of one internet user and her uncle’s family, as they were traveling in the van to pick sugar oranges when the accident occurred.

Reports indicate that the cause of the accident was the van being designed to carry 8 people but actually carrying 10, therefore exceeding its passenger capacity by 2 individuals.

However, internet users believe that “overloading is not the cause of the accident.” One local internet user stated, “Carrying a ton in the van is not a problem.” Another local internet user mentioned, “The fact is that the van came out from the auxiliary lane, then turned around, stopped in the middle of the road, and was half-collided into without moving.” Another internet user also shared, “Watching the video at exactly 6:30, the van turned left from the intersection, perhaps not seeing the large truck coming from the left or feeling lucky, came out halfway and braked, stopping, and within two to three seconds, the truck hit it.”
