The epicenter of the earthquake was located north of Gaozhou City in Maoming, near the towns of Changpo and Zhenlong. Records show that within a 200-kilometer radius of the epicenter, there have been a total of 8 earthquakes of magnitude 3 or higher in the past 5 years, with the most intense one occurring on November 4, 2023 in Enping City, Jiangmen, reaching a magnitude of 4.3.
