A fraudulent case exploiting the eagerness of college students to find employment was recently exposed, making headlines on Baidu’s hot search on February 21. It is reported that the case involved 80 million yuan in funds and deceived over 400 college graduates.
According to news from Guangming Net on February 19, from the end of 2021 to June 2024, the suspect Yu and others used the pretext of being able to help graduates secure official positions in state-owned enterprises and public institutions. They collaborated with Su and others to carry out a scam targeting graduating college students in various cities and regions of Gansu Province.
Some victims revealed that the fraudulent group had a professional training institute and a complete employment training process. Their office was even located in a high-end office building. Not only did the scam involve conventional “employment procedures,” but some victims even underwent so-called “employment” processes and entered companies for supposed “pre-job internships.”
It was reported that a large number of forged internship, job application, and agency contracts were discovered at the company’s human resources office, as well as various exam papers used for training and examinations.
The scam lasted for three years, with over 400 college graduates falling victim and suffering a total financial loss of over 80 million yuan.
Bai Haijuan, associate professor at the Law School of Gansu Political and Law University, cautioned job seekers not to blindly pursue “establishment positions.” She advised individuals to consider the job responsibilities and their own career plans comprehensively. During the job application process, it is important to enhance awareness of fraud prevention and not easily trust in offers of “high salaries” or disclose personal information, and avoid making hasty payments for related fees.
Netizen “Princess Hike” commented, “The scammers are too audacious! Everyone should find jobs through legitimate channels. Don’t believe in the nonsense that money can buy you a job. Your own abilities are the most reliable!”
Remember, in the pursuit of employment opportunities, caution, vigilance, and reliance on one’s qualifications and skills are key to avoiding falling victim to fraudulent schemes.
