万斯否认 不尊重英法 在派乌维和部队问题上 Vanse denies disrespecting UK and France on the issue of deploying UN peacekeepers

On Tuesday, Vice President Vance denied disrespecting the UK and France in the issue of deploying peacekeeping forces to Ukraine. This came after he mentioned in an interview that the peacekeeping force of 20,000 soldiers being deployed by the UK and France to Ukraine comes from a “random country that has not fought a war in 30 or 40 years.”

Vance refuted the notion that his comments were disrespectful to the UK and France. It is reported that his remarks sparked backlash from some politicians and veterans in these countries, who accused Vance of insulting the hundreds of soldiers who fought alongside the US military in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Vance defended himself by stating that if anyone interpreted his remarks from the Fox News interview on Monday as criticisms of the UK or French forces, it was “absurdly dishonest.” He clarified on X platform, “I didn’t even mention the UK or France in the interview, both of which have bravely fought alongside the US military for the past 20 years or even longer.”

Indeed, over the past 40 years, the UK and France’s troops have fought alongside the US military in Iraq and Afghanistan. Currently, only the UK and France have publicly committed to joining the multinational peacekeeping force planned to be established in Ukraine.

On Tuesday, Vance explained that when he mentioned countries that haven’t fought wars in many years, he was referring to other potential countries within the “coalition of the willing” mentioned by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer over the weekend. These countries might deploy troops to join the post-war peacekeeping force in Ukraine.

Furthermore, during the interview on Monday, Vance emphasized the stance of the Trump administration: ensuring peace in Ukraine is best achieved by opening Ukraine’s resources to the US, which would deter Russian President Putin from any aggressive actions. He stated, “If you want to ensure that Vladimir Putin doesn’t invade Ukraine again, the best security assurance is to have Americans have an economic advantage in Ukraine in the future.”

He stressed, “This is a better security assurance than randomly deploying 20,000 troops from a country that hasn’t fought a war in 30 or 40 years.”
