【Update】Typhoon Kong-Rey hits Taiwan, full list of work and school closures on the 31st

The Taiwan Central Weather Bureau announced around 4 p.m. today (October 30) that due to the influence of the outer circulation of a typhoon, there is a high chance of short-duration heavy rainfall. From today until the 31st, there may be localized heavy or very heavy rain in mountainous areas of Yilan and Hualien counties, as well as localized heavy or very heavy rain in New Taipei City, Keelung City, Yilan County, Hualien County, Taitung County, and mountainous areas of Taipei City.

There is a possibility of localized heavy rain in the northern regions of Taiwan including Taoyuan, the Hengchun Peninsula, Orchid Island, and Green Island. People are advised to be cautious of lightning and strong gusts of wind. In mountainous areas, precautions should be taken to prevent landslides, falling rocks, debris flows, and flash floods, while low-lying areas should be wary of flooding. It is recommended for the public to avoid activities in mountainous regions and near rivers. Areas expected to experience very heavy rain: Yilan County and Hualien County.
